until the purest light shines bright
and spurs it on to violence.
But beware of the brightest light,
for it must extinguish
the darkest shadow.

TERRA.
Light gives birth to darkness,
and darkness gives light its form.
The place to which we must return:
The place from where we must depart.
The Forbidden Valley:
A terrible place people dare not enter.
Four small silhouettes emerge from the dark:
A young woman in a white dress,
Sarah.
Twins… no, triplets, young boys all:
Kit, Khem, and Lind.
They have come to risk life and limb
for the prized Dragon’s Tooth deep within.
Kit: We actually made it…
Lind: The village elders aren’t gonna like this.
Sarah: Having second thoughts, are we?
Khem: This is… this is all for the Dragon’s Tooth!
Sarah: Good, that’s more like it. Boys must be brave. Alright… this way.
Kit: Owie… I fell…
Sarah: Ssh!
Kit: !!
Sarah: The souls here are starting to stir…
Kit: What do we do, Sarah!?
Sarah: (Can you feel my presence…?)
Lind: ...Sarah? What’s wrong?
Sarah: Huh? Oh, it’s nothing. Come on, there’s still a long way to go!

Kit: Lind asks that to every girl he sees.
Sarah: Sheesh!)
Khem: Whoa! It’s huge!
Kit: I-is that a King Orbling? I’ve never seen one before…
Sarah: Don’t stare, Kit. It’s rude… Oh, and don’t let your guard down, either.
Khem: Get ready, Kit. Can’t stand there slack-jawed forever!
Lind: Watch out!
Sarah: I can’t go on like this forever… I’ll have to face him soon.
Bahamut…
This fight is about much more than just me.
Lind: Sarah, they’re chasing us!
Sarah: Be careful, everyone!
Sarah: Did you three fall asleep?! ...I guess I can’t blame you. I am the one who dragged you all the way out here, after all. I hope you’ll understand…
Khem: Mmf… Sarah, is that you…?
Sarah: Ssh, I’m here. It’s alright. Go back to sleep… You’ve earned a break.
Khem: Okay…
Sarah wrapped her arms around the children and closed her eyes.
Her embrace was
gentle and tender.
Kit, Khem, and Lind
were enveloped in a pleasant warmth
and soon drifted off to sleep.
“Just… just a little bit further.”
The words hung in the air for a moment as tears rolled down her cheeks…
Yet no one else was awake to hear them.
