How it all started was less important than how it ended. What the girls did there, straddling the boundaries of space and time, left an indelible mark on both themselves and the world around them. As fighters, as friends, as Guardians, they would never be the same...
Jodie always wore a mask. She had one for every outing and occasion. To others, it was almost impossible to tell what she was thinking or feeling, for she often said one thing but did another. In reality, she was just changing masks before their very eyes.
In the beginning, she wanted to put her best foot forward. To make a good impression. To foster feelings of friendship by giving people what she thought they wanted to see. Unfortunately, when you're so many things to so many people, it's easy to forget what you are to yourself.
The more masks she wore, the more naked she felt without them.
In the end, she couldn't remember what not wearing a mask felt like. Angry Jodie, Happy Jodie, Funny Jodie, and Sad Jodie were Jodie all the same, after all.
