Her drive, her obsession, her addiction, was firmly rooted in the realm of the mind, and her body just couldn't keep up. Every time she took one step closer to her goal, she paid the price in fractured bone and torn muscle.
She was young. Bones healed. Muscle grew back. The nagging voice in the recesses of her mind, the doubting whispers in her ear, on the other hand...those were a different story.
In the end, she came to understand the wisdom in shooting for the moon: even if she missed, she'd land among the stars.
